Kitchen & Bath
About this Project:
Asheville is famous for its pre 1950’s <1000 sq. ft. homes and the “DIY” renovation stories that go along with them. No different, this home had recently been “updated” by a flipper with some superficial fixes so that it could be put back on the market and resold as “recently remodeled.” The task was challenging; take a 75+ year-old, two-bedroom, one-bath house and make it feel like a new, custom home built for a modern client.
Pictured are the kitchen and bathroom renovations. To achieve an “open concept” bathroom in <50 sq.ft., we designed and implemented a strategy involving the movement of a few key components to create a functional design with the illusion of a much larger space. Floor-to-ceiling shower glass elongates the room and opens the ceilings, statement tile adds a modern/personal feel, and custom floating shelves give additional space to a small area. The kitchen mirrors these details with ceiling-stretching upper cabinets, custom floating shelves, and herringbone laid floor tiles.
